Director's Welcome to School of Nursing

Dr. Kimberly Ferren Carter
Radford University (RU) School of Nursing sends you warm greetings. We are pleased to share information about our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) that began with 25 students in August 2010. The School of Nursing has a strong history of excellence in nursing education, with over 2000 BSN, MSN, and DNP graduates practicing throughout the world. In keeping with the recommendations of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, our DNP program prepares excellent clinicians with practice doctorates and the skills to lead the much needed advances in the rapidly changing health care system. If you have a passion for practice, you may find that RU’s DNP program is just right for you!

The DNP program features concentrations in Family Nurse Practitioner, as well as Nurse Midwifery and Psychiatric Mental Health initiative courses in collaboration with Shenandoah University.

We have programs of study available for post-BSN, post-Masters (non-clinical), and post-MSN (clinical, FNP, CNS, and CNM) students. We also have full-time and part-time options.

Expert doctorally-prepared educators with clinical certifications provide current, clinical expertise in a caring and exciting learning environment that is accessible and convenient to students. Strong support systems are in place for students in this technology-rich, yet faculty-student-engaged distance learning environment. In 2012 the US News and World Report ranked RU School of Nursing’s DNP program as 23rd in the nation in student services and technology.

Radford University celebrated our Centennial in 2010. As we move forward in our second century of educational excellence, we invite you to become a part of Radford University School of Nursing’s DNP program and embark upon a journey that will transform your nursing career.
